Stop Buying the AI Magic Pill
Hey, look around. Everyone and their dog is selling you the "AI Magic Pill.
ChatGPT this, LLM that - promising to 10x your productivity, write your essays, and basically think for you. Sounds dope, right? Except it's a mirage.

Deloitte to pay money back to Albanese government after using AI in $440,000 report

The Guardian
The research is piling up, and it ain't pretty. Most AI projects? They're not delivering past the shiny demo stage. Companies are dumping cash into these tools, and the results are... meh.
Here's the kicker: MIT research from their Media Lab shows folks using ChatGPT for tasks like writing essays experience serious cognitive decline.
Their study found a 32% reduction in "germane cognitive load" - the mental effort that turns short-term input into long-term learning - and participants who relied solely on ChatGPT had the lowest brain engagement over time.

Finding out the cognitive cost of using an LLM in the educational context of writing an essay.

We're talking weaker brain connectivity, lower memory retention, and less original work.
Summarization = Mediocracy
Let's break it down. What do these Large Language Models (LLMs) really do? They summarize. They remix what's already out there. And guess what? That's a one-way ticket to mediocrity.
You're not creating, you're not innovating - you're just regurgitating a watered-down version of someone else's thoughts. Your product, your ideas, your work? Average at best. And while you're getting that short-term "productivity boost," you're on a trainwreck course to irrelevance.
Good Writing = Good Thinking
Paul Graham nailed it: good writing is good thinking. When you outsource your thinking to AI, you're moving in the wrong direction. You're not sharpening your mind; you're dulling it. We're building a world where lazy prompts replace deep ideas, and that's a disaster for real progress.
Here's the deal: innovation and true productivity don't come from a chatbot. They come from humans - messy, creative, brilliant humans.
We need to stop worshipping algorithms and start building tools that empower us to think better, create better, and solve real problems. It's time to put humans back in the driver's seat, not as passengers to some overhyped AI.
